History
Bulletin launched in February 2024, one month after Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger announced the shutdown of Artifact — the algorithmic AI news reader that briefly defined what "AI news" could feel like. Where Artifact leaned on a recommendation engine to decide what you see, Bulletin was built on the opposite idea: you choose the feeds, AI just helps you read them faster. Originally an indie iOS project, Bulletin joined the Pixelfolio portfolio in 2025 and continues to evolve as a focused, privacy-respecting alternative in a news app landscape dominated by algorithms.
Press coverage
“Users can customize news sources the app features, as you could in any other RSS reader, instead of relying on a curated selection.”

About Pixelfolio Inc.
🇨🇦 Halifax, Nova Scotia · Founded 2025
Pixelfolio is a one-person iOS studio run by Dominic Williams, who grew up in Wales and now lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The company builds and stewards a portfolio of well-crafted, delightful apps for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, and Vision Pro — some acquired from their original developers and given a second life, others built from scratch.
The common thread is a design philosophy built on craftsmanship — sweating every detail of the user experience and putting the customer ahead of everything else. A small studio can care about the things larger teams have to skip, and that care is the product.
